Solmetric: Photovoltaic (PV) System Measurement &
Shade Analysis
SEMI PV group workshop, August 26, 2011, Jaipur, India

Presentation File

-        How shade affects the PV panel and system performance.
-        How I-V curves are measured at the system level and benefits
of I-V curves performance testing
-        System level I-V curves: Significance of Fill factor, how series,
shunt and mismatch affect the I-V curves
-        Bypass diode operations
-        I-V signature of electrical impairment in a PV system:
explained through real examples
o        Leaky solar cell,
o        Solar cell with poor contact
o        Field-aged solar cell
o        Effect of shaded solar
-        After the workshop, those who are interested can learn about,
orientation issues in the site analysis through live demonstration of
Solmetric SunEye.
This 1-hour workshop is presented by Veenu Shekhar, President of
Silicon Valley Energy Lab (SVEL), Santa Clara, CA, USA.  SVEL
brings technology driven products for Indian market in the solar field
and works with Solmetric Corporation in India.  Solmetric
Corporation, Sebastopol, CA is the world leader in shade analysis
and system-level PV design and analysis tools.

SVEL is developing educational curriculum in photovoltaic and
electricity for the US schools/colleges and has trained over 100
teachers in various states.  Through a competitive grant from
Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and in collaboration with
Stanford University, Solar and Wind Energy Project (SWEP), SVEL
will develop basic electricity educational modules emphasizing on
educationally-disadvantaged schools.
